First official review on this blog, hope to be many to come, the honor of being the first review is from one of my favorite bands in the Metal scene, and that is Kamelot. They come back after a few years after the huge success of the Black Halo, and one thing to note about these guys is that they have become very popular in the Metal world, they have the prestige honor of dishing out consecutive albums which have been amazing, (Karma, Epica, Black Halo) and they shine back again with another solid, a bit different album, but still holds true to the Kamelot sound and the hint here is "progress".
The first opener opens up with Solitaire a beautiful violin opener which sets the mood quite nicely for the rest of the album, as soon as Rule the World kicks in , you feel like your face just smashes you with the Kamelot melodies and great rhythm section. Human Stain has this industrial opening that fits the song quite nicely in the duration, great vocals from Khan himself. Another exceptional vocal performance comes from Khan on the songs Love you to Death and Up Through the Ashes, the emotion he puts into the songs really lets you know how much effort these guys put into making albums.
Silence of the Darkness is very "dark" song, some nice bottom heavy chops provides here from Youngblood makes this song one of the best tracks on the album and Edenecho closes out the album in awesome fashion, once again Kamelot delivers the goods, sure this album will be criticized by many, just because the album is short , not many long songs from them, not that many ballads, which they excel at, but nonetheless, they are back with a solid album which does not disappoint and they keep on progressing a sound they have mastered at this point. Can they keep this up for a few more albums, tough to do, but as a big fan of the band, cannot wait for the next one. All Hail Kamelot!!!
